JOE TYRAN

Hey everybody, my name is Joe Tyran! I grew up in the Midwest, but now reside in the little town of Spokane, Washington. I am an engineering student and play Division 1 hockey for the U.S. Air Force Academy. I spend whatever free time I have left cross training for my other great passion, the mountains!

Growing up, my family instilled in me the value of hard work, respect, and kindness for others. Through my time at the Air Force Academy I was adopted into a new family, one that has continued to help me grow in those values. My hockey teammates, otherwise known as “the boys," and the other cadets at the Academy continuously encourage me to grow not only in my sport and academically, but in my outreach to the community.

Throughout my time at the Air Force Academy, I have had the pleasure of meeting folks from every branch of the military. Hearing about their experiences and seeing their dedication to our country, inspires me to reach my fullest potential. This has been my motivation for joining the Climbing for Casualties team and intending to raise $20,000+ for the Special Forces Foundation. I am excited to share this cause with you and hope to see you out there too! I’m STOKED!

WILL FINLEY

I was raised in the South East, but I moved around a lot, being an Air Force “brat”. Growing up I was fortunate enough to travel all over the US and other cool places around the world, where my love for adventure grew exponentially.

I am currently a senior at the United States Air Force Academy where I get to live out my “adventuristic” lifestyle. My time in Colorado has allowed me to climb some of the highest peaks in the US, ski classic North American  lines, and meet some unbelievable people along the way.

One of those people is Matthew Randall, who introduced me to Climbing for Casualties. Combining my lifelong goal of becoming an Air Force officer, my deep passion for the mountains, and volunteering to raise money through Climbing for Casualties is a dream. I am beyond excited to pair up my passion with a truly great cause!
